6. Please attend to the bathroom before coming to class. I will not make it a regular practice to allow you to be excused from class to go to the bathroom unless it is an emergency.
7. Please raise your hand to be recognized before speaking. If you speak out, you will be given a detention and if the speaking out continues, your parents will be contacted. If this behavior persists you will be referred to the Dean of Discipline for further action. Please be attentive in class, respect one another’s right to be heard and to learn. It is not an acceptable practice for you to put your head down and go to sleep. If you are not feeling well please inform me and you will be allowed to go to the main office.
8. Please keep the classroom clean. Pick up any trash around your desk. Please do not write on any of the desks.
9. The Teacher’s desk, bookcases, filing cabinet, cabinets, bulletin boards, chalkboards, and computer are not to be touched unless given specific permission by the teacher to do so.

Blue or black ink only is acceptable; pencil may be used on occasion (especially when taking a test.)
14. GRADING POLICY: There will be at least four major tests per quarter, counting 50% of your nine-week grade. Quizzes may be announced or unannounced, counting for 20% of your nine-week grade. Homework, notebook, and journal will count for 20 % of your nine-week grade. Class participation, cooperation, not talking out, raising your hand and attitude in class will count for the final 10% of your grade. All make up test will be given after school and when it is appropriate during class time. All detentions will be at least one (1) hour and will be served after school. If you see that this might be a problem, it is my suggestion that you not find yourself in a situation that will get you a detention.
15. Any student found cheating or plagiarizing will be given a zero for the test, quiz, or project in question. The Dean of Students will also be notified of the incident for notation in the student’s record. “John Carroll Catholic High School stands for truth, as evidenced by the Latin VERITAS on our school seal. Truth and honesty do not allow us to take that which does not belong to us or to give information to others which is to be used for a dishonest purpose”.) Please see P. 15 of the student handbook for further details under the title: INTEGRITY.
16. Please put your heart, mind, and soul into this school year. Please make a real effort to study and do all the assigned work. I pray that God bless you and that you have a wonderful senior year and I am looking forward to the time that we will spend together. I truly consider myself blessed by God that He has allowed me this opportunity to accompany you on this portion of your earthly, spiritual journey and this your senior year. I pray that you have a peaceful and productive year. Please know that if you ever need anything, know that I am here for you and that you are always welcome in Room #302. In all things that we engage in this year let us always be mindful of a quote from the book of the Prophet Micah: What does YAHWEH ask of us? This, to act justly, love tenderly and to walk ever so humbly with our God”
