CLASSROOM RESPONSIBILITIES:

All students must bring the following items to class each day or receive a zero for that day: covered textbook, notebook, pen (blue or black ink only).

All class work and homework is to be completed and submitted when it is due. No late work will be accepted. The student must be prepared with all reading, review and practice exercises each day. If you are absent, check with a classmate for assignments.

It is the student’s responsibility to take all quizzes and tests on the day they are given. If you are absent for any reason, check with the teacher about making up the missed work, quiz, or test.

When you know that you will be absent because of a trip, sports event, etc. check with the teacher at least three days prior the absence for any assignments, quizzes or tests that will be missed.

Rule for make- up work is the following:

1 day absent – 1 day for make- up a quiz, test, or assignments

2 days absent – 2 days for make-up

All students should keep a notebook to take notes on lectures or other class work.

Notebooks are a good learning tool and a ready reference resource. The teacher will check notebooks and give a grade once during the nine week grading period.

GRADING POLICY

TESTS: 40% of nine weeks grade. Each student is responsible for taking all tests or completing all project work, which is graded as a test. Appropriate advanced notice will be given. It is advantageous that the student not miss a test. Only one test per nine week grading period (excused absence) will be allowed to be made up at the teacher’s convenience. If more than one test in the same time frame is missed, there will be no make-up unless approved by the administration.

QUIZZES: 30% of nine weeks grade. Daily quizzes, written or oral, may announced or unannounced. These quizzes may include material previously covered in class or homework.

HOMEWORK: 15% of nine weeks grade. All class work must be completed and submitted on time. Late work WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

CLASS PARTICIPATION: 15% of nine weeks grade. All students are expected to take part in daily discussions of subject material. Good participations means coming to class prepared and ready to work. Non participation or negative participation will result in a low grade.

INTEGRITY: A grade of ZERO will be given for cheating on any test, project, quiz, or assignment. If a student is discovered cheating on the semester or final examination, the student will earn a FAILING grade for that marking period.

Failure to follow these rules will result in detention, notification of parents or guardian, and referral to the Dean of Students for further action.
